DESCRIPTION:

Immerse yourself in luxurious 'Old-Florida' feel in this STUNNING one-of-a kind gem of an island home, Casa Mariposa! This home is located just 1 street north of the shops and eateries from 'downtown' Anna Maria's Pine Avenue and just 4 houses down from the beach access path that leads you to arguably one of the best beaches on Anna Maria with the softest and whitest sand around!

If you didn't know it was there, you may be missing this luxurious hidden gem. Tucked away behind its lush gardens and trees you will find an antique wood and iron garden gate leading to the grand entryway adorned with 100-year-old teak columns and an expansive wood front porch. On the first ground level floor, you will find three bedrooms each with their own en-suite, laundry with full size washer and dryer, a hallway wet bar area with sink and beverage fridge, and a door leading you out to the pool and patio area.

The first bedroom has two twin XL beds, en-suite full bathroom with single vanity and step in shower and a game area. The game area is filled with toys, books, puzzles, a TV, Wii, NES classic and all sorts of trinkets to keep kids and BIG kids entertained for hours!

The second MASTER bedroom on the first ground floor you will find has a large luxurious king size bed with designer linens, decor, and island touches. The en-suite bath has a shower and toilet area separate from the double vanity.

The third bedroom located on the first ground level has a king bed, walk in closet & TV. The full ensuite bath with step in shower and single vanity also has a door which opens up to a private screened in patio lounging area just off the pool.

Wind your way up the gorgeous staircase up to the main living area you will find yourself standing in a massive GREAT ROOM with soaring ceilings and spectacular garden views with tons of natural light. The open concept living, dining, and kitchen area is wrapped with huge screened in outdoor lanai/balcony spaces which makes the outdoor living spaces almost as much as the indoor spaces. The multiple sliding patio doors and windows allows you to be in the comfort of this home while feeling immersed in your own elite island tropical oasis. The entire home is equipped with Wi-Fi and Sonos sound!

The kitchen boasts rare Australian serpentine countertops, stunning solid maple cabinets, stainless-steel high-end appliances, a wine cooler, and plenty of counter space with a coffee bar and breakfast bar. The kitchen is fully stocked so you can whip up an incredible meal at home with your group and keep entertaining for hours!

The fourth bedroom is located on the second main floor area and has a king bed, TV, closet, and desk workspace. Just outside the bedroom door and in the hallway is a full bathroom with combination tub and shower with jetted tub.

Once outside in the backyard you will find yourself on a covered porch with additional outdoor dining table and huge grill perfect for grilling up that fresh catch of the day! The true magnificent gem of this home into its expansive private garden and native butterfly sanctuary which is home to 20+ varieties of butterflies and is the namesake of the home - Casa Mariposa, which in Spanish means Butterfly House.

The pool is perfect for getting an early morning exercise swim in while also being a perfect place to splash around and cool down after a day at the beach.

Quiet Hours 10p-8a. You are vacationing in a residential area. Please be a good neighbor by keeping the noise to a respectful level during the day and night. Excessive and unreasonable noise can deprive neighbors of the peaceful enjoyment of their private property.

Reservations are typically taken for 7-night Saturday-Saturday stays. However, we can offer flexible stays with varying minimum night requirements and non-Saturday check-ins/check-outs during most of the year with exception to holidays and peak weeks unless city ordinances prohibit it. Always feel free to ask prior to booking to see if this is a possibility as we may not be able to accommodate changes after booking.

CLEANING AND SAFETY:

All our homes and linens are cleaned, sanitized, and inspected between each guest per industry standards. A starter set of basic amenities, linens, towels, and bedding are provided at the beginning of your stay per home occupancy. Daily housekeeping or linen services are not included in your stay.

Additional cleaning and laundry services are available by request mid-stay at additional charge. For stays of 28-days or more, a mid-stay clean will be required to be scheduled and paid by guest at additional cost.

This home participates in our Professional Linen Program. This ensures high quality linens and towels are provided according to the home’s occupancy at the beginning of your stay. These are professionally laundered at a commercial facility between each guest. Please keep in mind extra sets are not kept in homes.

GOLF CART RENTALS:

Golf carts are a fun and easy way to get around the island! After booking, reserve one for your stay with our sister company, Once Upon A Beach Carts, for an exclusive discount for our vacation rental guests!

BABY RENTALS:

Baby equipment is not available for use at the home for safety and sanitation reasons. We are however partnered with local companies offering rentals of these items including pick-up and drop-off.

POOL & SPA (if any):

The pool is heated year-round at no additional cost for the convenience and comfort of our guests. Pool temperatures are set between 82-85 degrees and will not be set higher due to keeping proper chemical balance, clarity, and cleanliness of the pools. Due to strict city noise ordinances pool heaters and filters do not run during the hours of 10p-8a. Please note that cooler ambient temperatures (20 degree difference between water and air temperature) may result in pool heater unable to compensate the difference. We are not responsible for cold spells causing cooler pool temperatures or unexpected failure of equipment. Please note that a residential spa is a section of pool that once turned on provides relaxation, misting bubbles and warmer temperatures in the high 90s - low 100s but are not permitted to remain on 24/7 or will not reach temperatures like that of a commercial hot tub. Spas may not be operational during the months of June - September to avoid high temperatures of pool water which is detrimental to keeping proper pool chemical balances. Guests are required to read and abide by all posted rules, safety and operating information. Under no circumstance is any guest allowed to adjust pool equipment. Failure to abide may result in guests being fined or liable for any damages to equipment.

PROPERTY SECURITY/SAFETY:

Please note this home may be equipped with Ring, Nest or other exterior cameras viewing front door, driveways, pool equipment, and entry/exits of backyard areas only. Cameras are only intended to keep property safe and secure, monitor deliveries, assure occupancy, and are not angled into any areas where guests would assume or expect privacy.

PAYMENTS:

50% of total amount due must be made at time of reservation request to confirm reservation.

50% of total amount due must be paid on or before 60 days prior to check-in date

Full amount due must be made at time of booking if check in date is within next 60 days.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Please review the details of our Cancellation Policy page or Terms & Conditions at booking. We encourage you to review as OUR POLICIES HAVE CHANGED as of MARCH 25, 2023. We continue to offer refunds of deposits for cancellations (for stays of 28 days or less) made greater than 60 days to arrival, however all cancellations are now subject to a non-refundable booking admin fee. We continue to offer our US Citizens guests (with exception to residents of NY and HI) the option of purchasing CSA Travel Insurance directly with us. We strongly encourage all guests to purchase Travel Insurance in the event of any unforeseen eventualities. "This is our 9th year of Sarlo Family Thanksgiving which was almost cut out by Hurricane Ian. Thankfully we found 3 houses for our family, my Brothers family and In-laws! The pictures did not reveal how spacious the upstairs was! Loved our stay"

"We had our 3 kids & each brought a friend.: 2 college, 2 high school, & 2 middle school. House was well appointed and had everything we needed. 1 block from the beach made it easy going back and forth. Would definitely rent again."

Just incredible

"The house is absolutely beautiful and offers every modern convenience. We rate it a 5++. First built in the 1920s, and secluded by a ring of mature palms, the property has recently been remodeled with an eye toward luxury. The decor is splendid all professionally done. The open plan, indoor-outdoor great room is fit for Architectural Digest. The main-floor decks are screened, making every inch usable in moderate December weather. As far as we could tell, it is unlike any other property in the area. There were 7 of us, including a high-energy toddler. This made the house's many private spaces, from the large, well-lit bedrooms with comfortable chairs for reading, to the enclosed deck off the kitchen to the expansive children's room, with its lounge, essential to maintaining sanity. (My daughter used the latter, briefly, as office space; I used it as a reading area.) A large, uncrowded beach is just a three-minute walk away. The lap-pool and spa are first rate. The house has few drawbacks, but one would be the lack of natural light. The trees, which provide desirable privacy, also create jungle-like shade. The pool and spa face north and are often shrouded in shadow. Visitors would be well advised to bring mosquito repellent. The management was very responsive, sending over someone to fix the dishwasher (missing a wheel on the bottom rack) within an hour. (The dishwasher, btw, is the only device we would upgrade.) My wife and I also appreciated being able to check in early, as our flight arrived earlier than anticipated though the okay came minutes too late to save us from the ubiquitous parking enforcers. (Beware: if your wheels touch the street line, it will cost you $50!) There is enough onsite parking to accommodate three cars. There is a wonderful, walkable shopping district around the corner, on Pine Street. We highly recommend Pizza Social! Overall, our stay in this gem was thoroughly delightful. We would gladly stay there again."

Buyer Beware

"Considering the cost of this home, we hoped everything would be in good condition and working order, but we were disappointed. We experienced several problems, including a malfunctioning appliances and items that were in poor condition. Although we brought these issues to the attention of the property managers early in our stay, they were never resolved."

As a small intimate husband wife led boutique rental agency in the island, we love hosting guests in our homes on behalf of the owners. This home has been beloved by repeat visitors and families for several years while we have had the honor of managing it. We greatly appreciate all our guests who take the time to leave reviews for our future guests. We were well aware this review was coming, but are shocked it was left as a 2 star review. As evidenced by the 30+ reviews on this platform alone the home is well kept, clean, and above all very much cared for. These guests unfortunately tried to exploit any chance they could find to be refunded for their stay and when we refused this review was the result. The items referred to as the home being in poor condition were a brand new dishwasher in which the bottom rack wheels popped off and just needed snapped back into place, the ice maker in the fridge which was making ice but the dispensing part in front if the fridge broke (they just needed to open the freezer to extract the ice and we have since replaced the entire fridge unit with a top of line fridge and freezer which makes both regular and craft ice), and a beach cabana left by a previous guest which had a bent leg and we were demanded by the guest we needed to replace. While the home provids more than typical beach gear items like carts, umbrellas, floats, bikes, toys, etc. A full beach cabana/canopy is not an item listed as being provided and as such we told the guest we could not be able to replace an item we don't supply. They threatened us with bad reviews if we didn't buy them a beach cabana. Upon being alerted to the other items of concern from the guest we immediately responded within minutes and had maintenance on site that day to snap the dishwasher tray wheels back into place for the guest. We truly love our guests and love welcoming them back time and time again. We work so hard to ensure our homes are the perfect vacation home and if something does happen not expected we go above and beyond to make sure it's taken care or. We are disappointed someone would leave a review like this but understand in multiple years of business that these undeserved reviews as a result of not giving someone money back due to a threat is just part of the business.

Lives up to the photos

"Beautiful House and great location! The house lived up to all the beautiful pictures. We spent our days hanging at the beach and then coming back to swim in the pool or walking down Pine Avenue. The common area upstairs is huge and all the furniture is very comfortable. The screened in porches are comfortable and quiet. So many restaurants and stores within walking distance of the house. We ate at The Sandbar, The Waffle Press, Scoops, The Rod and Reel and The North Shore Cafe. We also drove down the beach to visit The West Coast Surf Shop. (A must it's been in business since 1964) We loved our stay here and would highly recommend the house and the island!!!"
