Location Info

Holmes Beach, a town of just under two square miles with a year-round population of 3,913, has a distinctly more residential, laid-back vibe. Vacation rentals abound, mostly unpretentious older concrete-block homes of 1,400 square feet or so, and newer, larger pastel-colored Key West-style homes. Here you’ll also find Key Royale, a canal-front community of executive homes with its own nine-hole golf course, where a lot of updating is going on. Boaters especially appreciate Key Royale’s easy access to Tampa Bay and the Gulf. Manatee Public Beach is the major draw. There’s also a new municipal skate park and a public library, and you can charter a fishing trip at Keyes Marina.

Major Demolition Near This House

"Overall, this house is a good vacation rental but we were very displeased by the management company's failure to tell us there would be major demolition one house away during our stay. For the first 3 days of our vacation there were crews tearing down a property and ripping out large trees in the lot one house to the right. Not only was it incredibly loud from 8 am until evening, but the entire house shook all day from the work being done in the ground. I've never experienced anything like it. We were traveling with a 4 month old who naps half the day so not ideal. When I reached out to the management company about our concerns, their response was that they were "confident in the city's noise ordinance timeframes" and did not know how long the demolition would go on. Not very helpful. Luckily the crews didn't work on Saturday and Sunday so we had peace and quiet for two days. This property should be discounted or management should be transparent about the work being done nearby. That lot is now vacant and I imagine it will have a house built on it next. I would advise future vacationers to take the noise level of possible construction into consideration"

Katy, We thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review and happy that you found the home lovely. We expressed and again express our sincerest apologize for the construction noise that took place on the street during the time of your stay. We know vacations should be a time of relaxation and rest. Unfortunately, we are not made aware or given any notice or information of any construction schedules of neighboring homes nor do we have any control of the situation other than to monitor and enforce the city's noise ordinances if they are making noise after hours which is why we mentioned that so if if they were operating on the weekend or late we would have happily reported them. The home/lot had been like that for 6-9 months without movement and the day you arrived construction began unannounced. The entire island is being developed with construction of multiple homes on every block with unknown construction schedules some taking years to complete with intermittent stopping and starting. We again greatly apologize but have absolutely no control nor have the ability to notify our guests if we don't know about it ourselves. Unfortunately, this negative review is not a reflection of the lovely home you stayed in... rather an outside factor occurring in the neighborhood that we understand is frustrating but unfortunately outside our realm of responsibility or control. The home was marketed at our lowest price of the season due to the last minute opening and booking you made. We hope you can understand our limitations with this matter and would consider staying with us in the future.

Perfect vacation!

"Blue Haven was exactly as pictured! Perfect location and a VERY short walk to the beach. We loved the ping pong table downstairs and the spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. We will definitely be returning!"
