First, a little on the name. Growing up as an army brat, I had the great fortune of living in Hawaii for 3 years and became very familiar with the culture and language. "Pukalani" translates to "window to heaven." "Puka" means window or hole, like the shells in the necklace, and "Lani" means heaven. A pukalani is what the Hawaiians call it when an opening in a cloudy sky allows for sun rays to break through. Thereby creating a window to heaven. Which leads...
