Location Info
Our location is the best in Orlando! Why, because we are approximately 10-12 minutes north of downtown Orlando where the nightlife, restaurants and bars come alive in the evening. Located 5 minutes from Altamonte Springs shopping, this large shopping center has ( Macys, J.C. Penny, Dillards), AMC Theatres, and dinning. Direct access, 40 to 50 minutes, to all attractions (Disney, Universal, Sea World), and just 45 minutes from the Atlantic coast (Daytona and New Smyrna beaches). Close to everything, but not on top of the traffic and tourists. Although there are many opportunities for golfing and cycling. There are other places to visit, I will focus on two of my favorite destinations, they are Winter Park and Mount Dora. Winter Park, just a five minutes drive to a friendly area, where you can stroll along the main brick lined street with outdoor cafes, bistros and upscale specialty shops and boutiques. On Saturday visit their Farmers Market from 7am to 1pm. And in December enjoy their Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony in the park. www.shopwinterparkvillage.net/events/ The village of Mount Dora is a charming, one hundred plus years old historic village. Mount Dora was once famous as 'The Antique Capital'. Mount Dora now boasts a wide variety of retail gift and specialty shops and boutiques and is located just a short 45 minute drive. Special Events include: *November. Annual Light UP Mount Dora with 2 million sparkling lights in Donnelly Park. *December. Annual Christmas Parade. *February. Annual Arts Festival. *February. 3rd weekend in February, Annual Mount Dora Music Festival.

Not Private or secluded
"We booked 12 weeks with Kathy paid around $7000 at The Gardeners Cottage the pictures on the site made it look idyllic but we were in for a shock on advert is says "The amenities include a private, secluded and spacious landscaped garden with a pool, two patios, outdoor BBQ facilities" when we arrived at the front door ( main picture) we were took round side which i thought was odd as her ad shows the front door (so misleading) and when Kathy a seemingly nice lady in her 70`s/80`s she said oh you can use this area and that area the pool and barbeque which isn't same as private use off Her apartment had double patio doors which with blinds open She was watching every move we made nothing sinister just meant again not private or secluded Had she closed her doors and blinds fair enough that would be private The area we stayed in had no blinds on the windows which meant as it was open plan anyone in pool or patio area could see straight in to where we were eating and sitting watching tv etc so no real privacy even within the building we spent our first evening outside to eat our dinner we were joined by Kathy. again ad stated " My spacious renovated 800 sq. feet suite includes a bedroom, master bathroom, living room and kitchen with all new appliances, including clothes washer & dryer." the drier and washer were at least 12 to 15 years old The drier packed in on day 2 and the refrigerator leaked water 2 days running When we told her she said oh that happens its backed up So she knew of the fault and as for renovated i had to stap tissue in the bedroom window as the window casing was shot and letting in cold air at night and worried about bugs so definitely not renovated The patio area furniture was damp and generally needing cleaned she did offer but again asking an older lady to do that we cleaned it ourselves but in reality she should have had her cleaner do it she said she used before we arrived We left after 3 days would have been less if we had found somewhere else sooner I stupidly elected to make excuses for leaving were personal rather than confronting a frail-looking old lady thinking we would get some money back but to date, Kathy has ignored all emails and messages regarding same"
Hello Jim Sweeney from Scotland I am responding to your message dated January 13, 2024, regarding your concerns. FACT 1. When you booked the Gardeners Cottage and signed the legal contract (Rental Agreement) it protected you and me. In the Rental Agreement you committed yourself to the following dates: November 19, 2023, to January 30, 2024. You broke the contract on November 22 when you voluntarily moved out after three days. You lied about the reason for the move out, you told me it was an emergency and you had to return immediately to Scotland. FACT 2. My property is private and secluded. I live alone. You had full use of the property, not only the 800 square feet of the furnished apartment but also the outside porch, furnished gazebo, two patios, pool and furniture on the pool deck. During the past ten years as a member of VRBO as a Premier Host, and with Florida Rental By Owners, I have never had a complaint. The French doors have blinds that can be activated to close. The windows in the kitchen overlooking the pool area will never be covered, I have received many compliments from travelers on how beautiful the pool view is in the morning as the sun rises and sparkles on the water. FACT 3. You may not be aware of Florida's climate, as it is necessary to maintain the property on a regular basis. Therefore, I have weekly lawn and pool service, grounds keeper on an unscheduled as needed basis. Unfortunately, he was on the property the day you arrived to clean up debris from a wind storm. My son who does not live with me, helps one day twice a month. He was also present on the day you arrived helping me with the irrigation system. You must also realize I have mail and paper service each day and also trash pickup. So complete privacy is impossible. There are motion lights in the pool area for safety concerns and cameras only at the front door and side garage door for security and safety reasons. FACT 4. If you had been honest with me, I would have explained everything to you and saved you the expense you talked about. It is not yet the end of the month and an Instant Booking between now and the end of January is still possible. If that occurs, I agree to provide you with credit for those dates. "I stayed here for 3 months and it was exactly what I needed. Kathy was so accommodating and her guest house has everything you need to live comfortably. The pool is amazing and so private. The address may be in Maitland, but it’s so close to I-4 so you can get everywhere pretty easily. I definitely recommend it and would stay here in the future if I decided to take a contract in Orlando again."
