LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION are said to be the three most important considerations in identifying desirable real estate. On Sanibel Island this can be further defined to VIEWS, VIEWS and more VIEWS in selecting your vacation home.

At our unit 3A3 at Ocean's Reach Resort, we think we have a combination of location and view that can't be beat. Our unit is only 25 feet from the beach, an amenity hard to find anywhere on the Island. Located almost exactly on the elbow of the Island, the views from the beach offer both inspiring morning sunrises and spectacular evening sunsets. With limited development on both sides, the atmosphere of tropical remoteness and serenity is enhanced.

With 1000 SF of living space, the unit comfortably accommodates up to 6 people. The screened lanai overlooks the short walkway to the beach and the Gulf. There are many amenities, typically found only in premier properties. These include being professionally decorated and furnished throughout, with solid surface kitchen and bath counter tops, 55” TV and DVD player in the living room and 37” or 26" TVs in each bedroom, ceiling fans in all rooms and the lanai and reliable, Wifi internet access.

We make personal and family use of the condo 8-10 weeks each year. As such, we furnish, decorate and equip the unit to the standards required to make it a comfortable second home. The kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances. You will also find an ample supply of dishes, cookware, utensils, dishtowels and other kitchenware to meet all your needs. The dining room comfortably seats six and opens to the living room, the lanai and the spectacular ocean view. The master bedroom has a king bed and there are twin beds in the second bedroom and there is a sleep sofa in the living room. All linens and bath towels are provided and there is a washer and dryer in the unit. We try to include as many staples as possible so you don’t have to run to the store as soon as you arrive and don’t have to buy a month’s supply of something for a one-week stay. These include items like soap, toilet paper, dish and laundry detergent, paper towels and much more.

The complex has 64 units in 4 buildings, located on a quiet, secluded dead end street. Its midpoint location on the Island makes for a short drive to Periwinkle and the center of Island shopping. Exterior amenities include tennis/pickle ball court, heated swimming pool, gas grills and picnic area, shuffleboard, basketball court, corn hole, croquet, covered parking, beach chairs, shell cleaning station and other beach games and toys. We also have four adult bikes, available at no additional charge. The beach is famous for the variety of shells that are found and the surf is generally gentle and slopes gradually, making for a great swim area, especially for small children. With limited development on both sides, the atmosphere of tropical remoteness and serenity is enhanced.

If you have never been to Sanibel, we believe you will find it to be a uniquely tropical vacation destination. If you are a returning visitor, we invite you to consider our Sanibel home for your vacation. In either case, we believe you will be very happy with your choice.

WHAT TO DO:

Without question, the greatest attraction of Sanibel is the endless beach, producing a new harvest of shells with each new tide. Sanibel is known as the shelling capital of the world. While other beaches may have better or more sand, higher dunes or other favored characteristics, there is something about the totally tropical experience of walking the beach at Sanibel. The combination of magnificent views and a shoreline that brings a new population of shells with every tide is rivaled only by the grace and beauty of the pelicans and gulls in the sky. The dolphins playing in the surf produce a serenity and solitude that is unmatched anywhere.
If outdoor sports are your priority, enjoy the three island golf courses and several championship courses nearby. Tennis and paddleball courts are readily available and there are miles of bike paths on Sanibel on which you can explore the Island. For the nature lover there is the Ding Darling Wildlife Sanctuary offering rare sightings of tropical birds, alligators and other wildlife. There is also The Bailey Tract and many other nature/preserve lands to explore.

SPECIAL PRICING: Inquire about last minute reservations for savings up to 40%. During the four weeks prior to any arrival date, I will discount the rate on my unit an additional 10% each week for a stay of 7 nights or more. That's 10% if booked 4 weeks in advance, 20% if booked 3 weeks in advance, 30% - 2 weeks in advance and 40% - 1 week in advance.

About owner

Hi, my name is Dave Herrick. My wife Sandy and I live on Lake Winnipesaukee in southern NH. We have been coming to Sanibel for over 40 years. We originally owned a condo in the 80s which we, unfortunately sold in 1992. Ever since then, we had been hoping to be able to someday re-establish an ownership position on the Island.

During the 80s we made Sanibel our annual vacation, usually over the Holidays to coincide with school vacations for our three boys. Sometimes we had Christmas trees and boats in tow. Sometimes it was grandparents joining us to escape the Boston cold. On every occasion, it was a trip we all looked forward to with excitement and anticipation. My kids learned to swim on Sanibel. This is where they saw their first alligator in the wild. We took daily bike rides on the miles of bike paths and explored the wildlife at the numerous sanctuaries. Sometimes we just walked the beach at low tide and talked about whatever interesting shells we found. Overall, Sanibel became a very special place in our lives. It became a place we all enjoyed together; a difficult concept to achieve in a diverse and growing family. During the nineties, we missed our southern sojourns, but with the kids involved in school activities and moving on to college, it became increasingly difficult to schedule family trips. Interestingly, the kids, now married with families and embarking upon their own lives and careers, have rekindled their memories and attraction to the Island.

In 2004 we purchased a unit at Oceans Reach Resort and in 2016 we bought a second unit at the Sundial Resort. Our desire is to establish high quality, well maintained units to which our guests will want to return to year after year. You can view both these units at www.sanibelretreats.com.

We have been coming to Sanibel for over 40 years. The ride across the Causeway is like a passage to another place and time. The miles of bike paths throughout the island, the endless variety of small specialty shops and excellent restaurants, the abundance of nature preserves and other outdoor activities and the opportunity to enjoy live theater and the arts all contribute to this mystique. Perhaps what Sanibel does not have is as important as what it does possess. There are no traffic lights, no high rises and no sense of urban congestion.

We had a great stay at oceans reach 3A3. Our host was very accommodating and helpful throughout the entire process. The view from our Condo was breathtaking, we were there anticipating that our trip would be a washout with hurricane Laura on its way. We were fortunate and Laura kept west of us. Even a day with a little bit of rain while on the beach is better than a day anywhere else. The kitchen had everything we needed plenty of room very comfortable beds. After a long day in the sun on the beach cleaning up and going out to one of the local restaurants was great. We highly recommend the Island Cow Restaurant!! Take advantage of the four bikes provided with your rental and explore some of the best routes and quiet surroundings. Take a drive to the lighthouse Beach, for some of the best shelling and scenery, we didn’t spend enough time at that end of the island, it was beautiful. We definitely would love to come back, and take advantage of this beautiful condo again. Thank you David for the phone call and follow up with us during our stay. We are newly retired from Illinois to South Georgia and love that this was only a 6 Hour Dr. from home.

We had a great stay at oceans reach 3A3. Our host was very accommodating and helpful throughout the entire process. The owner really helped us with the COVID issues, flight changes, etc. He bent over backwards to accommodate us! The condo was great. We ate in 90% of the time and found the condo fully stocked. It has everything...from a melon baller to a crock pot! Everything was in great condition even the non stick pans, knives and cutting boards! We used the beach gear daily and rented 2 umbrellas for the week. Just a perfect example of what a VRBO experience should be!

This condo exceeded my family's expectations. David was very easy to communicate with and was very attentive to the needs of my family. My wife commented that the condo was beyond clean which I must give credit because my wife is very critical on cleanliness! The condo had all we needed to prepare our meals. The best part of this condo is it has spectacular views and is a very short walk to the beach. David thank you again for sharing your beautiful home with my family. We will be back again!

Oceans Reach is a perfect location; secluded but near everything. Unit 3A3 has everything you want or need, from bicycles to beach chairs, and is virtually steps from the beach. Very comfortable vacation, will return here.

Once again the condo did not disappoint, I managed to get two trips into this great condo location in the last month and absolutely love the location and the view of the Gulf. The kitchen is well appointed everything we would need, and more extras than you would ever need. We try to make our trip as easy as possible and didn’t really cook in the condo but for mixing up our tea and other small things it’s very well stocked. The beds were comfortable, for anyone staying after us I suggest if you come with another couple, what my husband and I do is we look at the floor plan and we determine if this is even possible, We bring a curtain and a tension rod and place the curtain leading into the hall by the hall bath. This way you turn your second bedroom into a master bedroom with privacy for your other guests. We have done this at numerous condos we have stayed at. Love the privacy that it creates. No need to bring beach chairs, coolers, bikes or pool toys, all are supplied and provided for in the storage closet near your assigned parking. We were not able to take advantage of the bikes this time due to tropical storm Sally arriving our first night. And once again our favorite place to eat on the island even my sisters agree is the Island Cow. Food is fabulous Such a great variety the portions are hefty and the price can’t be beat. Make sure you take a ride or drive to the lighthouse fishing pier beach to be overwhelmed with your shelling options. I definitely hope to come back, according to my husband probably a little too often. Thanks David
