This historic home is the childhood home of the Van Zant family, including Lynyrd Skynyrd founder Ronnie Van Zant, and current Skynyrd lead singer Johnny Van Zant, as well as .38 Special singer Donnie Van Zant. The epic rise to fame of the original version of Lynyrd Skynyrd was tragically cut short by a plane crash in 1977 that took Ronnie's life, and that of several other members of the band. But their music will live forever, and hopefully this house will stand as well as a living tribute to the Van Zants. Inside this main house, you'll find some cool memorabilia, and a retro 70's feel, to remind us all of the way things were, with a hint of nostalgia.
10% of all net proceeds will go to Project Listen, a local Jacksonville charity that provides music education to local kids. The rest will go to cover expenses and continuing to improve the property. Your visit will help ensure this house forever remains a part of Rock n Roll history!
I am an entrepreneur, business owner, avid traveler, author, and husband/father. I have owned a number of vacation rentals and stay in many more. I will respect your property and I hope you will do the same for mine!

What a blast for any Skynyrd fan! my brother and I brought our guitars and jammed to Skynyrd all night. Paid the ferry man at Ronnie, Lacy's, Allen and Leon's resting places. Spent the afternoon drinking at the Jug loading the Jukebox with every Skynyrd song they had 384. Spent time sitting in the house or walking around the grounds talking about what all went on there. Truly a special trip which we both decide will be done again. Prior to the trip Todd the owner was a great host and very helpful in getting us ready for the trip. I can't thank you enough he truly understood how important this trip was for us... we will definitely do this " one more time"....sorry had to

My stay at the VanZant house is a memory I will always treasure. A great experience that brings back memories of some of the greatest rock songs ever written in the home where it happened!

Here are some of the highlights from our stay. Gene Odom and Tom Wills (news4jax) stopping by and then touring the house with a camera crew following, 100’s of fans stopping by to take pictures with the sign, the care takers (James and Lenita), the neighbor TJ and his orange Chevy truck, and several childhood friends of the band that still live in the neighborhood stopping by.
The stay was awesome and I did not want it to end.
I highly recommend staying here.
