The Amalie Arena is like no other arena in the NHL. It’s located right on Tampa Bay, perfectly perched on Channelside Drive where you have pedestrian access to great harborside restaurants and cafes of the city of Tampa.  Nearby Ybor City is not to be overlooked with its unique Cuban flavors and architecture. Amalie Arena has a capacity of 20,000 people so get there early for parking!  The arena is located between I-4 and I-275, the downtown area has several exits to the arena and parking lots nearby.

The Tampa Bay Lightning know how to put on a show. There are pre-game festivities and a fan zone outside the main entrance, in an area called Thunder Alley. Fans flock to the arena even if they don’t have tickets for outdoor watch parties during the playoffs. They host giveaways and music performances for a few hours before they drop the puck. The pre-game show is epic replete with laser lights, smoke, and even lightning bolts from the ceiling which generates a ton of excitement. Right in front of the main entrance fans can watch the pre-game show being taped. One of the incredible things about Florida hockey is the ability to go to a game in your shorts and flip flops if you are that eager. Relax and sample a cigar on the north-side outside patio of the arena which features beautiful ambiance lighting, plam trees loungey patio furniture and a cigar stand by the doorway.
